What Stays Local

Which data never leaves your machine.

Use this when

You want to know which data HumVision never uploads, or you want to confirm that a specific recording has not been shared.

Data that stays on your machine

The following data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly share it:

Recording files

Every .DAT, .SON, and .IDX file on your drive stays local until you choose to share that recording. HumVision does not background-sync recordings, index your library to the cloud, or send any sonar data without a direct action from you.

Unshared recordings and projects

Recordings and projects that you have not shared remain entirely local. They do not appear in the shared workspace and no teammate can see or access them.

App settings and configuration

Your colour palette, display preferences, unit settings, and any other in-app configuration are stored only on your machine.

Exported files

PDFs, images, GeoTIFFs, and any other files you export are written to your local drive. They are not uploaded as part of sharing.

Your library

The list of recordings and projects in your library is local. Other team members cannot browse your library, only items you have actively shared with them.

How to keep a recording local-only

  1. Do not right-click the recording and choose Share with team.
  2. If you previously shared the recording and want to pull it back, see Remove a shared item. Removing it deletes the uploaded copy from cloud storage and takes it out of the shared workspace.
  3. To verify a recording has not been shared, open the Shared screen. If the recording does not appear there under your name, no copy of it is in the shared workspace.
