Remove a Shared Item
Take a recording or project out of the shared workspace.
Use this when
You want to take a recording or project out of the shared workspace so your team can no longer see or download it. Removing a shared item does not delete the original files on your machine.
Before you start
- You must be signed in and on a Team or Department plan.
- Only the person who shared the item can remove it. If you are a workspace admin, you can also remove items shared by other members.
- If the recording is still uploading, wait for it to finish before removing it.
Remove a shared recording
- Open the Shared screen from the left sidebar.
- Find the recording card you want to remove.
- Click the trash icon in the top-right corner of the card.
- If you shared it yourself, the tooltip reads Remove from Shared.
- If you are an admin removing someone else's item, the tooltip reads Remove (admin).
- The card disappears from the shared workspace immediately. The uploaded file is deleted from cloud storage and is no longer accessible to your team.
Remove a shared project
- Open the Shared screen.
- Find the project card and click it to open the project detail view.
- Click the trash icon on the project card.
- Removing a project also deletes the uploaded recording files for every recording inside that project. Each recording's shared entry is cleaned up individually before the project entry is removed.
What you should see
The card is gone from the Shared screen for all team members within a few seconds. A brief confirmation message appears at the bottom of the app: Recording removed from Shared.
Your local files are not affected. The recording or project still appears in your library exactly as before.
If it does not work
- No trash icon on the card — you did not share this item and you are not a workspace admin. Ask the person who shared it, or an admin, to remove it.
- "Could not remove shared recording" error — a network issue interrupted the removal. Check your connection and try again. If the card still appears after retrying, sign out and back in to refresh your session.
- Recording removed but still visible to teammates — shared workspace updates propagate in real time. If a teammate still sees the item, ask them to scroll or navigate away and back to the Shared screen to force a refresh.
