I Opened the Wrong Folder
Reset and choose the correct recording folder.
Use this when
The viewer opened a recording you did not intend to open, or you want to switch to a different recording without closing the app.
Common reasons
- Clicked a recent card by mistake — The Home screen shows recently opened recordings; a misclick opens one immediately.
- Browsed to the parent folder instead of the recording folder — Humminbird recordings are stored one level inside a named folder. Opening the parent folder produces an error because the app cannot find the required
.DATand.SONfiles there. - Recording is from a different sonar unit — The folder opened without error but the data looks wrong because it is from a different trip or unit.
How to check
- Look at the title bar or the top of the viewer. The currently loaded recording name is displayed there.
- Confirm the folder path by going to Home and looking at the top of the Recents row — the most recently opened recording appears first.
What to try next
- Press Home (the home icon in the top-left of the viewer) to return to the Home screen without closing the app.
- Click Open Folder on the Home screen and browse to the correct recording folder — the one that contains
.DATand.SONfiles directly inside it. - If you see an error saying the drive or folder is missing, reconnect the USB drive or SD card and try again.
- To open a recording you have opened before, find it in the Recents row on the Home screen and click it.
- If the wrong recording keeps appearing on launch, it is the last one you opened. Simply open the correct one from Home and it will become the new default for next time.
If it still does not work
If clicking Open Folder shows a permission error, check that HumVision has access to the folder: on macOS, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders. On Windows, confirm the folder is not set to read-only. Contact support at support@gethumvision.com if the error persists.
